Crime Mapping (UG)

This elective course is designed to help students acquire introductory skills and capacities related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as it pertains to law enforcement and public safety. Incorporating relevant environmental criminology theories, the course informs and instructs students about the map-making process and effective map-making.

Social Science Statistics (UG)

This course introduces students to the basics of statistics and their application in the social sciences. The learning objectives include conceptualizing the role of statistics, understanding important data assumptions, and conducting simple significance testing.

Honors Capstone Thesis (UG)

This course enables a select group of honors students to participate in the research process under the oversight of faculty. Students identify an individual research question, and then design and develop an innovative research project that culminates in a thesis. Past iterations of the course have resulted in panel presentations at the annual American Society of Criminology Conference.

Open Source Data and Visualization (Online)

Taught as a transition course during the Covid-19 pandemic, this course focuses on utilizing publicly accessible data and creating working visualizations to examine or present data. The objectives of the course include locating, downloading and making data amenable, and then analyzing and interpreting the data through simple visualization techniques.

Tutoring: Statistics and Research Methods

This role involved tutoring Masters and PhD students in the areas of statistics and research methods. Working in conjunction with program faculty, students were able to access a tutoring resource on in group or individual settings for material clarification.
